The 365 Day Challenge

My goal is to create something every day using something from my craft cupboard. I am a self-confessed fabric addict and just love to fossick through thrift shops and find treasures.

So here goes. Live, love, recycle and get crafting.

Day 366 - A 365 patchwork table wearing leg warmers.

Here it is, my last project, with the other one of my free nest tables. It is a tribute to my 365 project, and comes with woolly legs, for the chilly Bendigo winters.

What an awesome thing to have done. I have loved doing it, learning new skills, trying things I never would have tried, and getting a huge buzz from completing things I never imagined making.

My new blog is here. http://avintagecraftyadventure.blogspot.com.au/ Not set up yet but hopefully I will get a chance to do that over the next couple of days. You can keep following my ramblings if you want to.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me over the past year and kept me going. Special mention to Joyce, I've loved your comments and appreciation.

I'm off to have a cuppa now, with Little A at kinder for 2 hours, I get a tiny bit of time a week where no one is talking to me. Now that's what I call bliss! x

Day 365 - Girly Jeans

For the last day in my 365 project I thought it only fitting to make something for my biggest fan and supporter throughout the project, and in fact throughout my crafting times in recent years, my 6 year old daughter Juliet.

My Juliet has never been a jeans girl. She has chosen her own clothes most decidedly since well before her 2nd birthday, and she has always loved layers, and skirts and leggings. She loves dresses now too.

I friend of mine gave us some pairs of jeans that belonged to her daughter, so I thought I would 'girly' them up a bit to see if I could get her to wear jeans every now and then. She loves them, so we'll see what happens. A little bit of pink goes a long, long way.

Nothing to do with the jeans but man she's cute.

Loving herself sick!

I have to admit that day 365 is quite a downer. I feel like there should be fireworks going off, or something exciting to celebrate, but there isn't. I want to keep going, but I don't. It's like the end of a uni year but I'm not going out after my exams are finished.

I'll be back tomorrow with my last post, and, hopefully one last project for this blog. Yes, that's 366 reasons.

Day 364 - An old cardi with a new look

Today I've taken an ancient cardigan, and added a little bit of colour.

I used embroidery thread, six strands, and made large french knots by twisting the thread around the needle five times. I joined a few knots together so that they look like flowers.

I did all this with a tired 3.5 year old on my knee holding onto one arm. :-)

Day 363 - Pants that ROAR

Back in 2010 I bought this book Meet me at Mikes. It has lots of simple projects in it and it got me back into sewing which I really hadn't done much of since I was a teenager.

I ended up making heaps of pairs of these baby yoga pants, a super simple pattern in the book.

Here are some of the ones I made for Little A back then.

Today I made some of these for Mr D, with some fabric I found at the op shop for $1. It's a cute and vibrant fleecy lined fabric that will be fantastic for when it gets cooler.

Only 2 days to go!!

Day 362 - Felt and fabric ipod pouch

Liam went bowling with 2 of his mates for his birthday today so I had to make a cake. He wanted a footy oval. We stumbled upon these Aussie rules footballers at an op shop at the beach the other day. Score! I had to paint some little stripes on the jumpers. Go Tigers!

I cut the cake into an oval shape and the rest is seen below.

The spoilt one was also lucky enough to get an ipod for his birthday. Today I made him a simple pouch for it,  sewing together felt and fabric, then adding a button for a clasp chosen by Liam.

One of his mates is staying the night tonight. Aidan is sleeping over in Juliet's room. Wish us luck!!

Day 361 - Hot air balloons with messages inside

This is another anniversary present for my hubby for our 10th wedding anniversary. I had the idea of making some hot air balloons with messages in them a while ago, but wasn't sure how I would do it. Then a couple of weeks ago these string lanterns stopped working, and it occurred to me today that they would be perfect for making mini hot air balloons. There are even ten of them, for the 10 notes I had planned.

Lanterns.

I got the lanterns, some cardboard icecream cups, and some string I recycled from packaging.

I tied strings to the bottom of the lanterns.

Then I punched a hole in each side of the icecream cups, threaded the string through and secured the string with a bead on the inside of the cups.

Then I wrote some notes.

Rolled them up and tied them with string.

And buried the notes in shredded paper, recycled, from a birthday gift.

Here are my balloons swaying in the breeze outside.

Day 360 - Child's bedroom canvasses

Back from camping but so exhausted and feeling a bit down as I always do after quality family time away. The time away camping was good healing time, did some grieving for my Nan and some reminiscing, started to feel better, then had a down day again today.

Liam had a wonderful birthday yesterday, and I took him to see Chitty chitty bang bang in Melbourne on the way home. He was still on a high this morning.

I can't believe that little man is 8 years old already. The years just fly by. I miss those baby years, although I do love the little man he is now.

Some memories below, and a few snaps of camping and beach fun.

Here are some canvasses with felt, paint, some stitching and a few other bits and pieces. I made them. Only five days to go....Have no idea what I'm making. Can't think past today at the moment.
